Clemson City Council doubles its Pay

At their regular monthly meeting this week, the Clemson City Council voted to double the pay for council members and nearly double the pay for the mayor. Council members will now make $6,000 instead of $3,000. The mayor’s pay increases from $5,500 to $10,000. The Clemson City Council voted for the change after realizing they were the lowest paid city leaders among 12 comparable sized city governments. This is the first raise for the Clemson City Council and the mayor since 2005. The new pay scale starts in January. Three of the six council seats are up for election in November.
