Clemson Cornerback Charged in Connection in Connection with July Multi-Car Crash

Clemson City Police Chief Jorge Campos told city officials over the weekend that speed played a factor in a July 21st multi-vehicle crash on US 123 which allegedly caused severe injuries to a mail carrier…

Campos said that Clemson football sophomore cornerback Fred Davis II turned himself into the Clemson City Jail Sunday morning to face a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving after officers reported he was traveling 115 mph in a 55 mph zone when he rear-ended a mail carrier’s Jeep and caused two other vehicles to crash, as well.

Clemson Football released a statement on Sunday. They said, “Fred Davis remains with the program but will be subject to internal discipline. Grounds for internal discipline for misdemeanor charges like this are covered under the terms of the Clemson Student-Athlete Handbook, which says that the head coach can recommend a course of action, and upon concurrence of the designated CUAD administrator, administer sanctions.”

Davis was released from jail on bond, police said.
