Clemson Mayor Discusses Downtown Boutique Hotel And Potential Plans For Old Astro Theater On Coffee Time Program

(Seneca, SC)–Last week on the Coffee Time program, Clemson Mayor J.C. Cook discussed some economic development matters as it relates to the city of Clemson, which includes plans for a 65 to 70 room boutique style hotel at the site of the old BB&T bank building on College Avenue that would employee students from the Clemson Life Program, and what the future plans may hold for the old Astro Cinemas location.

The Mayor says that the building that housed the BB&T branch on College Avenue is torn down and constructions for the hotel will start there.

“The people that own the hotel also own the old Astro Theater property,” says Mayor Cook. “And that will be their lay down yard for construction and also parking for their construction workers ‘cause the place up town does not have room for material lay down or parking.”

The Mayor said that after completion of the hotel, there are still plans for the renovation of the old Astro Theater with the Brew Pub still wanting to locate there, as far as the Mayor knows.
