Clemson Police Chief Addresses Vehicle Noise Issue

Clemson, a university town, is often disturbed by loud noises, especially after a football game. However, the Clemson police chief, Chief Jorge Campos, says that the most frequent noise complaints he receives are not from the fans, but from the vehicles.

According to Chief Campos, many vehicles in Clemson are not equipped with proper mufflers, which are devices that reduce the noise and smoke emitted by the engine. He cites a state law that requires every motor vehicle to have a muffler in good working order and prohibits the use of any device that bypasses or cuts off the muffler.

Chief Campos urges the residents of Clemson to report any excessive vehicle noise to the police department’s non-emergency number at 864-624-2000. He says that the police will enforce the law and issue citations to the violators. He hopes that this will help to maintain a peaceful and quiet environment in Clemson.
