Clemson Researchers helping with Drinking Water Issues

Clemson University researchers are now assisting with water quality issues in Anderson and Pickens counties. Last spring, people in those two counties started noticing their drinking water tasting and smelling badly, which was later blamed on blue green algae in Lake Hartwell. This summer, the Anderson Regional Joint Water System began using a powder activated carbon to absorb the algae. Now, the Anderson Regional Joint Water System is being assisted by Clemson University researchers on a new treatment. The Anderson Regional Joint Water System says despite the issues, the water remains safe to drink.
