Coaching Boys into Men

Training for High School Athletic Coaches takes place on Monday, July 27, from noon to 2pm during the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Coaches Clinic in the TD Center Ballroom of Greenville. Coaching Boys Into Men is a coaches leadership program that partners with athletic coaches to help male athletes practice respect towards themselves and others. Athletic coaches play an influential and unique role in the lives of young men; often serving as a mentor to the boys they coach. Coaches are poised to positively influence how young men think and behave both on and off the field. Coaching Boys into Men equips coaches to talk with their athletes about respect for women and girls and to teach that violence doesn’t equal strength. Through Coaching Boys into Men, athletes learn skills to avoid violence and abuse in their relationships. This is a free event, but coaches must RSVP by July 22 because seating is limited. To register, visit http://coachingboysintomen.eventbrite.com. Each attendee receives a boxed lunch, training and discussion facilitated by Coaching Boys into Men expert trainer and coach, Jerry McMeekin, a Coaching Boys into Men Coaches Kit for implementing this program with your team and connection to Safe Harbor and ManUPstate for further resources and assistance. This training is organized by ManUPstate, a collaborative social change movement working to engage men in efforts to end violence against women and girls in the Upstate of South Carolina.
