Community shreds Sensitive Documents at Blue Ridge Bank

In observance of Arbor Day Friday, Blue Ridge Bank hosted a free community shred day. The bank brought in Shred-A-Way’s mobile truck to shred and recycle sensitive documents, explains Blue Ridge Bank CEO Glenn Buddin. “We advertised to try getting awareness in the community for the need to shred your personal documents, anything with personal information on it and it was just a tremendous success. We had almost a drive-thru of cars coming through pretty much from the time we started until six hours later. I’m just glad we were able to help out and do our part for Oconee County.” The free community shred day filled the 24-foot-long truck provided by Shred-A-Way. Properly shredding personal information is vital to protecting your identity, continues Buddin. “This day and age with hacking incidents and ID theft incidents happening on a regular basis, anything that you have in your home; old takes, old bank statements, anything with your Social Security number, birth date, address, just something that is old and not necessarily something that you should be keeping, you need to have it shredded.” Blue Ridge Bank plans to hold the free community shred day event each year.
