Concerns Raised About Poor Visibility at Clemson Intersection

Concerns over the lack of a traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 76 and Pendleton Road in Clemson were raised during a recent public meeting with council members, namely “Conversations with Council”. The intersection has become increasingly difficult to navigate due to poor visibility, especially when turning left from Highway 76 onto Pendleton Road.

During a meeting with the South Carolina Department of Transportation last Thursday, Clemson city staff confirmed that the agency is scheduled to restripe the intersection and install reflective raised pavement markers this summer. SCDOT has also granted permission to pursue the installation of a traffic signal, and the city is currently working with Clemson University to find a suitable location for the signal that will work with the university’s future plans.

In the meantime, the reflective markers and other measures should help improve safety and visibility at the intersection, officials said.
