Construction Related Lane Closures Suspending Starting 6am Wednesday Morning In Georgia For Thanksgiving Holiday

(Seneca, SC)——If your Thanksgiving travel plans take you through the state of Georgia, the Georgia DOT has announced that construction related lane closures will be suspended for the holiday.

According to a press release from the Georgia DOT, the suspension of the construction related lane closures on heavily traveled interstate highways and state routes will start at 6am this Wednesday, November 27th and last until 5am on Monday, December 2nd.

The Georgia DOT expects the heaviest traffic to be in Buckhead and the northern Perimeter Wednesday through Friday.

The press release goes on to say that motorists should use caution as crews may still work near highways and safety concerns may require some long-term lane closures to remain in place. There is always the possibility as well of incident management or emergency maintenance related lane closures during this time as well, according to the Georgia DOT.
