Council Meetings Tonight in Seneca and Westminster

The City of Seneca is holding a regularly scheduled council meeting on September 12. The meeting will start with a public hearing on an Ordinance which concerns the abandonment of an alley between E.S. 4th and 5th streets, and Fairplay and Townville streets. The meeting will conclude with an executive session discussing a fire contract with Oconee County and a personnel matter regarding the Municipal Judge.

Mayor Dan Alexander confirmed that Seneca’s municipal judge, Eddie Lance, has resigned after only three months in the position. As a result, associate judge Katie Smith will be handling the duties for now. Lance said that the decision was made after much prayer and discussion with his family. He said that a lot of personal and health related issues led to his decision. Tuesday’s meeting will be held in council chambers at City Hall in Seneca and is open to the public.

Westminster City Council meets at 6:00pm at the Westminster Fire Department Tuesday evening. The meeting there is also open to the public.
