County Council Meeting Tonight in Walhalla

This evening, the Oconee County Council will convene at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers at Walhalla.

The meeting will begin with the approval of minutes from the previous meeting and presentations from the county attorney, administrator, and the Oconee Humane Society. The council will then hold public hearings on two ordinances related to the use of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for the Seneca Library ADA Ramp Project and the Seneca Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Project.

The council will also discuss and potentially approve an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Walhalla for fire protection and emergency response services, and a letter of support for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) Property Acquisition Project. The SCDNR plans to acquire approximately seventeen acres in Oconee County, adjoining the Stumphouse Mountain Heritage Preserve / Wildlife Management Area.

The council will also discuss the purchase of a 2024 Ford F-450 crane truck for the Vehicle Maintenance Department. The meeting will conclude with discussions on appointments to various boards and commissions and is open to the public.
