County Planners Talk About New Subdivisions

The Oconee County Planning Commission in Walhalla recently discussed two proposed subdivisions.

The first, the Friendship Valley Road Subdivision, is a development outside Seneca’s city limits, expected to have 91 lots on 88 acres of land. The lots are fairly narrow, with widths less than 80 feet.

The second, the West Union Subdivision, is a project by Oconee Habitat for Humanity to develop 27 affordable homes on Pointe Place inside West Union. These homes will be built on 10.13 acres of undeveloped land, with construction likely to follow a 10-year plan.

The goal of these developments is to provide sustainable and affordable housing for lower-income families in the county, according to the county planners.
