Covidien to close in October

An Oconee County manufacturer of health sector products for over 50-years soon goes on the market. Oconee Economic Alliance executive director Richard Blackwell announces that Covidien will officially end operations on Highway 28 near Seneca in late October and move the business to Costa Rica. Covidien’s plans have been known for years and its workforce has been downsized to a fraction of its original workforce. Blackwell says that a building in excess of the 220,000 square feet will be posted for sale at a price of $3.5 million.
