Cpl. Watts Moved to GA Rehab Facility

On Thursday, Cpl. Lucas Watts of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office was escorted to his rehabilitation center in Georgia by a police convoy. This procession was greeted by approximately 50 supporters at the bridge over Exit 2 on Interstate 85.

Watts, who had been shot while on duty on Nov. 16, was guided by deputies from the Oconee and Anderson County Sheriff’s Offices and officers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol up to the Georgia-South Carolina border. At this point, the escort was taken over by officers from the Georgia State Patrol.

A large American flag was hung over the bridge by an Oconee County fire rescue ladder truck, while other supporters waved flags or held up signs with uplifting messages.
