Crash kills Two Horses in OC

At 3:37pm Sunday afternoon, firefighters from the Pickett Post – Camp Oak station were called to a single vehicle crash on North Highway 11 in the area of Tamassee Elementary School where a trailer carrying horses flipped, ejecting two of the animals into the road. According to Oconee County Medical Services, one horse died during the accident and the other had to be put down because of the injuries caused in the wreck. No persons were injured in the accident. A half-mile stretch of Highway 11 was closed as crews investigated the incident. The SC Highway Patrol, SC Department of Transportation and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office assisted firefighters.
