Crenshaw: “Witness to a Miracle”

People are expressing surprise and admiration for what Oconee Sheriff Crenshaw said at a vigil for deputy Lucas Watts. Watts has undergone a dangerous surgery and is currently in a stable but critical condition. In an interview, Crenshaw recounted some of the events from last week when it was believed that Watts had died in the hospital.

However, Watts responded to a hand touch by his wife. Crenshaw, a man of faith and serving his third term as county sheriff, admitted that he has felt God’s presence in Watt’s struggle for survival…

Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have obtained warrants against 50-year-old Gregory Wayne Maxwell in connection with that shooting. Maxwell is charged with five counts of Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

After a conversation with the family over the weekend and a conversation with Sheriff Crenshaw over the weekend and today, Sheriff Crenshaw says that the family has set up a CaringBridge account to provide updates on Corporal Watts condition. This is a link to the main website: https://www.caringbridge.org/.

Due to a conversation with the family, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not be providing any further updates on Lucas’ condition and all updates regarding his condition will be on the CaringBridge website.
