CU Political Science Prof thinks Republican Primary will be big challenge for Graham

Politics are starting to heat up with the weather.  A major race drawing national attention is for one of the United States Senate seats in South Carolina.  Incumbent Lindsey Graham faces six challengers in the Republican Primary this June.  The winner of the Republican nomination then faces candidates from the Democratic, Libertarian and Independent parties in the November General Election.  Clemson University Political Science Professor Dr. Joseph Stewart feels the biggest challenge for the incumbent will be in the party primary.  “I have heard in the nine years that I have lived in South Carolina how much opposition there is to Senator Graham and then he comes back to win.  I think the number of people in the Republican Primary is the story here and the question is will he succeed in the primary without getting into a run-off.  If he does I don’t anticipate that there will be much of a challenge in the General Election.” Det Bowers, Lee Bright, Richard Cash, Bill Connor, Benjamin Dunn and Nancy Mace challenge Graham for the Republican nomination.  Brad Hutto and Jay Stamper are vying for the Democratic nomination and then Victor Kocher is running as a Libertarian and Thomas Ravenel is challenging as an Independent candidate.
