CU Students help with Sassafras Mtn Overlook

A team of Clemson University graduate students has improved the state’s highest peak by building an overlook.  Students collaborated with the state Department of Natural Resources to install the overlook near a parking lot not far from the 3,353-foot peak of Sassafras Mountain.  The wooden overlook includes rails and extends beyond the rock outcropping. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is in the process of raising money to build an observation tower atop Sassafras Mountain as well.  The department is selling engraved bricks on its website that will be placed atop the mountain.
