Death Investigation – Scenic Plaza West Union

Emergency personnel were dispatched to Ingles located at 180 Scenic Plaza Drive, West Union, for a possible shooting at 7:16 am this morning (Saturday, July 17). A 59 year-old Oconee County man was found dead in the parking lot by deputies upon their arrival, according to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office.

Coroner Karl Addis said the man did not die from a gunshot injury. He went on to report that the man’s death “would be classified as a suicide due to the intentional destruction of a medical catheter placed for healthcare purposes.”

No other information would be available, Coroner Addis said.
