Decota Castle Brown Found Guilty
A jury made up of seven women and five men found Decota Castle Brown guilty on all three counts charged against him in Oconee County Superior Court in Walhalla today. Moments ago the verdict was handed down.
Brown was convicted on charges of burglary in the first degree, murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
He was sentenced to a total of 70 years in prison. Brown was given 50 years for the charge of murder, fifteen years for burglary and five years for possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Judge Gravely ordered that Brown serve those sentences consecutively, meaning that he will begin the sentence possession of a weapon following completion of the burglary sentence. The sentence of imprisonment for fifteen years for burglary will not begin until he completes his fifty year murder sentence.
