Delayed Announcement in Towery Case Due to Court Officer’s Illness

Derek Shoemake of the US Attorney’s Office said that due to a defense attorney contracting COVID-19, his office “has decided to wait until the last defendants are sentenced to issue a release” regarding a child sex trafficking case, which involved former SRO Deputy John Towery, who worked at Fair-Oak Elementary.

Last week, a judge placed Towery on probation and ordered fines and restitution after he pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor. The case also involves other defendants whose cases have not yet been fully processed.
