Demolition of Distressed Structures in Anderson County

Anderson County Council has announced the demolition of ten distressed structures within the county. The council has allocated funds in the budget to remove these nuisance properties, and they have contracted to eliminate these structures from the community.

The South Anderson Community Project has received $53,480 to demolish distressed or abandoned properties at six different addresses.

The demolition is scheduled to be completed by July 4th. Funding for this demolition comes from a Community Development Block Grant. Additionally, the Anderson County Council has approved funding for demolishing four more properties in the Anderson County Miscellaneous Project. The council sets aside funding each fiscal year to remove blighted structures throughout the county.

The four houses scheduled to be removed and cleaned up by July fourth are located at 5 Hammett, 8 N. Prince, and 401 Hall Streets in Anderson, and 17 Lopez Street in Pelzer.

“The presence of such eyesores has been a real hazard for these communities,” said Tommy Dunn, Council Chairman. “We work hard to provide funding to clean up our County, and now residents in the area will finally be able to say goodbye to the depilated structures.”
