Deputies Seek the Public’s Help in Locating Walhalla Man Who Removed His Ankle Monitor

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is urgently seeking public assistance in finding Christopher Edward Burrell, a 30-year-old man from Walhalla, who has removed his ankle monitor following his release from jail on bond. Burrell was incarcerated in the Oconee County Detention Center on August 2, 2023, and during his detention, he was served with 14 arrest warrants by the Sheriff’s Office. Prior to his release, the total amount of his combined surety bond was $94,845.00.

Burrell was released on bond Tuesday night, with the stipulation that he must wear an electronic monitoring device. However, early Wednesday, an investigator received a tamper alert concerning Burrell’s ankle monitor.

The device was later found at Old House Road at S. Highway 11, south of the Walhalla and West Union area. If anyone has information about Burrell’s current location, they are urged to contact 911 immediately.
