DHEC COVID-19 Update: Two More SDOC Classes Quarantined

Two first-grade classes from within the School District of Oconee County have been moved to distance learning after COVID-19 numbers are beginning to accumulate. First graders at Walhalla Elementary and Seneca’s Northside Elementary have been given return to in person dates of November 10th and 12th respectively.

On Wednesday, DHEC announced 647 new confirmed cases and 68 new probable cases of COVID-19, 16 additional confirmed deaths, and 3 new probable deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 171,642, probable cases to 9,228, confirmed deaths to 3,728, and 257 probable deaths. There were 31 new cases in Anderson County; 36 in Pickens County; and 10 new cases in Oconee County.

In Franklin County, Georgia, reports stated that Sheriff Steve Thomas is in the hospital and the tax office is closed due to COVID-19.

Here in Oconee County, we’ve learned that six of Sheriff Mike Crenshaw’s deputies contracted COVID-19 a couple of weeks ago and have since recovered.
