DHEC to help fight Pill Mills

A state agency is joining in the fight against illegal prescription drug abuse.  The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announces plans to aid law enforcement by reporting unusual prescription drug activity within 24-hours, which is a change from monthly reports.  DHEC joins this new attempt to target abusers, traffickers and doctors who are described as “pill mills” by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. A new DHEC drug control officer will also be assigned exclusively to help SLED and county sheriffs make cases statewide.
