DOR Charged Pickens Employer with Tax Evasion

According to warrants from the South Carolina Department of Revenue, the owner of DME Painting of Easley, 59 year-old Daniel Mark East, has been charged with not making payments to the department of revenue between 2014 and 2018. East is accused of collecting nearly $40,000 in withholdings from employees, but failure to pay the department. If convicted, he faces a maximum prison sentence of five years or a fine of $10 thousand for each of five counts, or both. According to jail records, he has been released on bond from the Pickens County Detention Center.
