DOT to hold Highway 153 Extension Meeting tonight in Easley

The South Carolina Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing tonight concerning the proposed extension of Highway 153 in Pickens County. The event is scheduled to take place from 5-7pm at Easley High School. The purpose of the hearing is to provide residents the opportunity to review and discuss the plans for the proposed project and its impact on the environment. Beginning at 5pm, aerial displays of the project, which would extend Highway 153 to Saluda Dam Road to Grant Valley Road, will be available for residents to view. Members of the DOT will also be on hand to discuss the project for people who have questions. At 6pm, DOT representatives will give a formal presentation about the project and the schedule. Citizens will have the opportunity to make comments following the presentation, but they must sign up to do so. The purpose of the proposed project is to reduce congestion on Highway 123 and improve traffic flow near Easley.
