Dress for Success

Dressing for success apparently means leaving the orange suit in the closet. CareerBuilder.com Executive Career Adviser Michael Erwin says orange was at the bottom of the list of colors that hiring managers say job seekers should wear to an interview. “When we asked employers ‘what is the color that somebody wears when they come in that is going to make you want to call them back?’  Blue and black are definitely the two colors of suit choices that come up at number one.” Blue and black were at the top of the list, based on the responses from more than 2,000 hiring managers. They said orange was the worst, adds Erwin. “Well, orange topped the worst color list.  They really said that it showed that somebody was unprofessional.” Erwin gives a few tips on making a good impression on hiring managers.  “Make sure that you are not wrinkled, that you are well manicured, that first impression is really going to go a long way and make you stand out from the competition who are all going for the same position.” To read the complete report on dressing for success, visit www.CareerBuilder.com.
