Drowning at Lake Secession

An 86-year-old man died after being pulled from Lake Secession Tuesday afternoon. Anderson County Coroner Don McCown identified the man as Pablo Lopez Garcia of Newberry, Fl. He was floating on a water noodle while his wife was kayaking beside him. The noodle got away from Garcia and he started to swim after it when he went under water and did not come back up. Anderson County emergency workers found Garcia about an hour later and tried to revive him but he died on the way to the hospital. The couple was on a six-week vacation and staying at a nearby rental home. They were looking at moving to the area from Florida.
