Duke Energy Announces Move Of Transformer To Jocassee Hydro Station; Expect Delay Along Route

(Seneca, SC)——Starting tomorrow, Duke Energy will manage the movement of the first of two 150-ton transformers to the Jocassee Hydro Station. 

The transformers will be hauled by truck from West Union to Jocassee in Salem. Due to the heavy equipment moves, traffic on Highway 11 and Jocassee Lake Road through Devils Fork State Park will encounter lengthy delays and motorists are encourage to find alternate routes. 

According to information provided by Duke Energy, the movement of the transformer may take a as long as two days along the 20 mile route depending on weather and other conditions. 

Local law enforcement will assist with the escort of the transport truck. The route will take the truck west on Burns Mill Road then northwest on Main Street. The truck will then travel northeast on Neville Street then northeast on Highway 11 and then north on Jocassee Lake Road.
