Duke Energy Testing Oconee Nuclear Sirens Today

Duke Energy, in cooperation with emergency officials, will test the 65 outdoor warning sirens around the Oconee Nuclear Station between 11 am and 1 pm today, in order to determine if the sirens are functioning properly. It could be necessary to test some of the sirens more than once.

If there were a real emergency at the plant requiring the sirens to be sounded, local radio and TV stations will broadcast information and instructions to the public.
