Durham Jury Trial Set for April

Suspended Oconee County Councilman Matthew Durham will be in court in April of next year, as that is when Judge Lawton McIntosh has designated a week for his jury trial on charges of domestic violence and neglect, despite the fact that Durham’s attorney told the court that Durham and his wife have reconciled and she will exercise her right to not testify against her spouse.

Defense attorneys also argued that the charge of neglect is concerning, because as long it remains pending before the court, Durham, the sole breadwinner for his household, is prevented from returning to his job as a control operator for a nuclear facility, not to mention his seat on the county council.
