Early Release School Day Wednesday in OC

The third early release day for the School District of Oconee County is this Wednesday, explains Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “This is an opportunity for our entire school staff to get to work together on some school based initiatives and activities. Usually when we have work days and in-service days, a lot of our instructional assistants don’t have contracts for those days, so this allows the whole school group to work together. What parents need to know is that we will dismiss at 12pm at the elementary schools and around 12:15pm at the middle and high schools, so they just need to be patient with the traffic. I often call it amateur day because we have a lot of folks who are new to picking up and they don’t pick them up on regular school days but maybe because parents are working they pick them up. We use these days again to help our staff grow and to work on individual school initiatives, so they are very important to our schools and our district.” Once again, on Wednesday Oconee County elementary schools dismiss at noon and middle and high schools at 12:15pm. Motorists are advised to watch for students unloading buses.
