Ed Foundation collecting Cell Phones and Ink Cartridges

The Education Foundation of Oconee County is kicking off a new fund raising campaign.  It’s called the EFOC Phoneraiser.  Plans are underway to collect used cell phones, smart phones and ink cartridges and turn them into cash for the grant program.  Drop off boxes for these used items are located at all school sites.  To ensure your private information is not shared from your old cell phone or smart phone, simply deactivate your phone and remove the sim card that is located inside.  The Phoneraiser Campaign is a way to recycle while supporting students by providing them with innovative technology that supports STEAMS, science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, and service.  All proceeds from the Phoneraiser will be used to support the grant program.  The Education Foundation of Oconee County has awarded over $193,000 in grants for classrooms over the past five years.  This current grant cycle, 45 applications have been received for a total of $53,000.  The foundation will announce in January which grants will be awarded.
