Effective August 1st, City of Clemson Suspending Curbside Recycling

Clemson City Council will hold their regular meeting this evening with at call to order at 6:30pm. An hour prior, the city council will have a public hearing regarding a planned development on Lawrence Road of almost 25 acres of land for residential and commercial use.

On their agenda is the second reading of a ordinance to amend the city code regarding cruelty to animals. Police Chief Jorge Campos is scheduled to address Mayor Robert Halfacre and the council on the matter.

Also this evening, Clemson City Council will consider an agreement with the Pickens County School District to provide an SRO at Clemson Elementary from the city police department, and the council will consider adding Juneteenth as a city holiday.

One other item of note from the City of Clemson, where officials have announced that effective Monday, August 1st, curbside recycling in Clemson will be suspended. The city said increasing costs and proven ineffectiveness of curbside recycling prompted the move.
