“Every Hero has a Story” focus of Summer Reading at OCPL

The Oconee County Public Library invites you to join the library’s summer reading program. This summer’s theme, Every Hero Has a Story, explores all kinds of topics from superheroes to hometown heroes and more. Oconee County Public Library Branch Services Librarian Blair Hinson gives details. “The public library cares about your children and has planned programs to keep them reading and learning all summer. Children and teens who join the summer library program can help offset the “summer slide” by keeping their minds active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and ready to succeed. Summer Reading is not just for children though. OCPL wants the entire family to participate in summer reading together. What better way to set an example for your child than for him or her to see you reading and participating in summer reading yourself. That is why we are offering summer reading programs geared for all ages. We have programs for babies/toddlers, elementary-aged children, teens, and adults. Sign-up the whole family and participate together. Summer Reading participants of all ages will have a chance to win some fantastic prizes. We hope that you and your family will enjoy reading and that you discover the treasures of your public library. Our summer reading calendar is jammed-pack with free events taking place all summer long.” The programs are always free and open to people of all abilities. For more information on the Summer Reading Programs, visit www.oconeelibrary.org. Registration for all summer reading programs begins at a library near you on June 8.
