Executive Director Of The Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority Signs The Sewer South Agreement

(Seneca, SC)———Chris Eleazer, executive director of the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority, tells 94.1 The Lake today that he has signed, on behalf of the Sewer Authority, the Sewer South Agreement yesterday.

Amanda Brock, Oconee County Administrator, signed the agreement recently after being authorized to do so by Oconee County Council after their last meeting two weeks ago.

A copy of the agreement has been sent to Columbia to the granting agencies, which the Rural Infrastructure Agency, which is a state agency and has already approved the funding for the project, and a federal agency, the U.S. Economic Development Administration. Eleazer says that they are still awaiting approval for the funding from the USEDA, which is the larger of the two grants, in order to move ahead with the Sewer South Project.

Eleazer comments on the next steps in the process to bring sewer service to the southern part of Oconee County.

Eleazer says that the grant will still need approval but he feels that the hardest part of the process is behind the parties involved in regards to the negotiation of the agreement. The documentation from Oconee County will need to be submitted down to Columbia and is a requirement for the consideration and approval of the project, according to Eleazar.
