Fighter Jets scheduled to fly over Upstate

Fighter jets are to fly across parts of the Upstate on Tuesday.  The South Carolina Air National Guard announces that it is part of a routine exercise.  Jets are scheduled to fly over portions of Anderson, Greer and Florence as part of an air defense exercise.  So Upstate residents might be able to see the fighter jets assigned to the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing escorting a single-engine aircraft belonging to the South Carolina Civil Air Patrol between 9am and 11am on Tuesday.  This routine exercise ensures the rapid response capability associated with the South Carolina Air National Guard’s Aerospace Control Alert mission. The unit is a critical component of the strategic force that is poised 24/7 to respond to airborne threats over the United States.
