Firearm Found at Elementary School in Easley

On Thursday, a firearm was discovered in a restroom at West End Elementary School in Easley. The School District of Pickens County reported that a student admitted to bringing the weapon to school and leaving it in the restroom.

The district stated that the school administration, in collaboration with a School Resource Officer from the Easley Police Department, conducted an investigation and retrieved the unloaded handgun. The district emphasized that there were no threats associated with the weapon.

The district commended the swift and effective actions of the staff, administrators, and law enforcement in adhering to district protocols to ensure the safety and security of all. The statement, however, did not disclose the disciplinary measures that the student would face.
