First Drug Round-Up of 2024 Underway by OCSO

On Feb 23, 2024, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announced additional arrests in their first drug round-up of the year. The operation began with a briefing on Wednesday morning, resulting in 41 arrest warrants for 27 subjects. The warrants were based on controlled purchases of narcotics, including Fentanyl, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Prescription Medication. By Friday, 12 subjects had been arrested or served their warrants. Two notable arrests include Michael Chad Roach, 41 of West Union and Matthew Earl Newcomb, 45 of Westminster, both charged with methamphetamine-related offenses. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking help to locate the remaining suspects. Tips can be submitted confidentially to Crimestoppers online. If a tip leads to an arrest, a cash reward may be given.
