FIVE DAYS, FOUR NIGHTS IN THE BIG APPLE

A New York City concert promoter is drawing attention to a performance at Carnegie Hall this spring by the Walhalla High School choir. The choir, directed by Erin Phillips, has accepted an April 19 invitation to join other choristers for a choir of distinction. They are to be conducted by Dr. Jonathan Griffith, artistic director and principal conductor for the Distinguished Concerts International New York. The Walhalla singers are to spend five days and four nights in New York to prepare for their concert. “The singers will spend approximately 9-10 hours in rehearsals over the 5 day residency,” says Griffith. “Not all of the time is spent in rehearsals, since there is so much history and culture to see in New York City.” In a sense, the Walhalla contingent will act as ambassadors from their home community. And you can help them defray the costs of the trip contacting Erin Phillips at [email protected].
