Flora and Fauna Day at OHC

Spring is a wonderful time to view many of Oconee County’s beautiful and unique flora and fauna. Experts will present information on Oconee Bells, bird watching, and more on Saturday, April 25, at the Oconee Heritage Center in downtown Walhalla. Visitors can take a tour of the Oconee County native plant garden. In addition, Natural Natives will be selling plants during this event. From 11am to 3pm, Jon Fritz gives tours of the Jake Sluder Heritage Park featuring plants native to Oconee County. At noon, the “History of the Oconee Bell and the Men Who Discovered Them” with Kay Wade is presented to attendees. Birds of Oconee with Stephen Schutt, Superintendent of South Cove County Park takes place at 1:30pm.
