Four indicted for conspiring to alter Money Orders

United States Attorney Bill Nettles announces that a Federal Grand Jury in Greenville returned indictments against four Upstate individuals for conspiring to alter money orders. The four indicted are 25-year-old Hannah McAdams of Townville, 28-year-old DeWayne Brooks of Pendleton, 26-year-old Gary Whitfield of Pendleton and 32-year-old Roger Powell of Anderson. The maximum penalty each defendant could receive is five-years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000. The case was investigated by agents of the United States Postal Inspection Service and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney William Watkins, Jr., of the Greenville office for prosecution. The United States Attorney stated that all charges in these indictments are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
