Four killed on SC Highways over weekend

Four people were killed on sate roads and highways over the weekend.  The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces four deaths from Friday, March 15, at 6pm until Sunday, March 17, at midnight. As of March 17, 126 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 161 highway deaths in this same time period in 2012. Oconee County has yet to experience a highway death in 2013 compared to five in 2012 at this same time. Pickens County lists six fatalities in 2013 and 3 in 2012.  Anderson County reports 6 in 2013 and 10 in 2012.  Of the 89 motor vehicle occupants who have died statewide in 2013, 61 were not wearing seat belts.  Through midnight March 17, 18 pedestrians, 15 motorcyclists and 2 bicyclists have died on state roads and highways. These numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of midnight March 17, 2013.
