General Election 2022: The Midterms – Results

The unofficial results are in for the General Election, and South Carolina has maintained it’s Republican majority.

Governor Henry McMaster has been reelected to another term in South Carolina, having captured 58% of the vote, compared to Democratic Challenger Joe Cunningham who garnered 40% of the vote statewide. US Senator Tim Scott and US Rep. Jeff Duncan were both reelected, as was State Representative Bill Sandifer.

Both Statewide Constitutional Amendments that were on the ballot passed.

In two very close races for the Oconee County Schools Board of Trustuees, Amanda Holder narrowly ousted incumbent Dean Bare for the District 1 seat with 41% of the vote, over Bare’s 35%. For the District 3 seat, the race was just as close. Incumbent Sandra Sloan barely kept her seat. She received 1,490 votes, and in a close second was Seneca’s Events Coordinator Riley Johnson, who received 1,112 votes.

In Pickens County, Democrat Claiborne Linvill won election to the County Council District 1 seat, with 54 % of the vote over Republican Brad White’s 45%. Chuck Powell was elected to City Council at Large for Liberty. And John Fulmer, Lillian Boatwright and Alesia Smith were the top three vote getters for Clemson City Council.

Down in Anderson County, Democrat Glenn Davis was elected to County Council District 2 over Republican David Standard, while Republican Cindy Wilson won election to Anderson County Council District 7, having defeated Democrat Mark Powell. Art Garrison was elected to the Soil and Water District Commission. Marty Wyatt won the race for Anderson Scholl Trustee District 3, Area 4.

In Georgia, it appears that Governor Brian Kemp has won reelection, however the race between Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican Challenger Hershcel Walker is still too close to call.
