Georgia Police Officers shot during Traffic Stop

Two Georgia police officers are recovering after being shot while trying to arrest a suspect in a stolen car last night near I-85. Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle reports that the incident started as a traffic stop and when the two officers noticed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Greenville, South Carolina, they attempted to arrest the driver. That is when the driver, 22-year-old Khari Anthony Dashuan Gordon of Greenville, allegedly shot both officers and fled on foot. The officers were taken to a Greenville hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening. A manhunt led to Gordon’s arrest on aggravated assault on a police officer, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony charges. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been asked to investigate the shooting.
