Good start to School in OC despite Cold

Despite the cold this morning in Oconee County, schools got off to a good start. Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey joined teachers opening car doors this morning. “We had a couple of calls asking if there was a specific temperature we would look for and we don’t, we just factor in the wind chill and everything. However, it seems to be going smoothly. We went out and visited some schools this morning. I was on the front porch at one of the elementary schools for half and hour opening cars doors and it went well. I think we are off to a good start and knock on wood everything will continue and it will go well today.” Maintenance crews checked each school at 6:30am this morning to make sure the heat was working and the heat was working at each facility.
