Governor Henry McMaster to Hold Ceremonial Bill Signing

Governor Henry McMaster is holding a ceremonial bill signing today for the new Constitutional Carry Law, H. 3594, which actually went into effect on March 7.

This law authorizes individuals, who are not otherwise prohibited, to carry firearms openly or concealed without a permit. However, the Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) program will continue for those who desire reciprocity with other states or easier firearm purchases from dealers.

In addition, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is set to develop a state-funded firearms training program. The new law also outlines increased penalties for unlawful possession or carry of a firearm and for felons in possession of a firearm.
