Governor’s School to honor Senator Graham

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics honors U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham during the 23rd Annual Townes Award Dinner. The 6pm dinner on March 18, takes place in the downtown Columbia Marriott. The Townes Award, named for the late Dr. Charles H. Townes, South Carolina native and Furman graduate who won the Nobel Prize in physics, is presented annually to businesses, institutions and individuals, like Dr. Townes, who take aspirations of innovation and leadership to a higher level in the areas of research, development, technology, business or public service. “Senator Graham’s aspirational leadership is evident in everything he does,” says Kim Bowman, GSSM Foundation CEO. “He has dedicated his life toward serving our country through his work in Congress and in the military. Not only is he engaged, committed and impactful in the work he does for the betterment of South Carolina, but no one loves this state more than he does. We are proud to honor him.” Graham was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002 and re-elected in 2008, garnering more than one million votes and becoming the top vote-getter in South Carolina history. The event’s keynote address will be given by David Seaton, chairman and CEO of Fluor Corporation, one of the world’s leading and largest engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services companies. Tickets to the event are $175 for the public and $145 for Business Leadership Network members. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.scgssm.org or call 803-252-9152.
