Graham Presses Secretary Mayorkas on Biden Administration’s Failed Border Policies

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) questioned Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Thursday about the record-breaking levels of migration the United States is experiencing at our southern border.

Earlier this week, Graham and other Republican senators announced legislation to address the abuse of the asylum system and slow the flow of migrants traveling to the United States.  Graham has also said that funding for Ukraine and Israel should be tied to policy changes to deal with the problems the Biden Administration has created at our southern border.

After the hearing, Graham made this statement:

“Secretary Mayorkas and some Senate Democrats are in complete denial about the problems at our southern border.

“They believe it is due to a global phenomenon – a breakdown of borders.  However, I believe the phenomenon is a breakdown of OUR border.

“The rush on our southern border is because of the terrible policy choices the Biden Administration and Democrats wholeheartedly embraced that entice illegal immigration.

“I made it clear that when they discussed and adopted these policies they would create  and ultimately have  a nightmare on their hands. Unfortunately for our country, those warnings have come true.

“I will not vote for any supplemental package for Ukraine and Israel that does not have real border security reform.  We can’t help other countries unless we also help ourselves!”
